When my best friend asked me to be both her maid of honor and her florist, I knew it would be such a meaningful project. Designing for someone you love is different. You’re not just arranging flowers, you’re weaving their personality and love story into every design.

The Most Fun Part
Without a doubt, the most fun part was dreaming up a design that felt like her. She wanted that effortless, whimsical style that looks as if the flowers had just grown into place. I loved creating pieces that captured that feeling, where every bloom felt soft, natural, and perfectly imperfect.
Making It Feel Like Her
Alli loved that dreamy, “secret garden” aesthetic, so I leaned into textures and shapes that gave movement and airiness. I used flowers that felt light and natural, almost like they had been gathered on a morning stroll through a garden. That little bit of wildness, combined with soft romantic tones, made the designs truly feel like an extension of her.

Balancing Maid of Honor & Designer
Was it difficult to balance both roles? It actually felt natural! I’ve been her best friend for 23 years and a floral designer for 14! I designed her onsite pieces, like the arch, early that morning before it was time for hair and makeup. Once we arrived back at the venue, I snuck in a few final touches here and there before the celebration started. The convenience of working closely with the venue made it easier, too. I knew the flow of the day and where I needed to be, which allowed me to give my best as both designer and maid of honor.

In the end, it was the best of both worlds: I got to stand by her side during the most important day of her life, and I got to surround her with beauty that reflected exactly who she is.
