Last year, we had the rare gift of designing for two sisters, Deidre and Darci, whose weddings landed just a few months apart. Same family, similar guest lists of aunts and cousins and childhood friends, but two completely different visions for what their wedding day should feel like.
We sat down with our Director, Kristen Serpico, to talk about what it’s like designing for siblings back to back, and why no two weddings (even in the same family) should ever look the same. If you’re planning a wedding in Columbus and searching for a florist and full-service floral design studio who can bring your specific vision to life, this one’s for you.

We asked Kristen to describe each sister’s style in just a few words.
“Dede had a modern garden aesthetic, full of natural textures with a focus on the florals,” she said. “Darci was a timeless, old world aesthetic with a focus on complementing the historic venue.”
One rooted in movement and texture, the other in architecture and heritage. It’s the kind of contrast that makes designing as a wedding florist in Columbus, Ohio so rewarding: every couple, every family, every venue asks for something new.

Not even a little, according to Kristen.
“Each sister has a different personality and I am a strong believer that a wedding should be a reflection of the individual couple and their taste,” she explained. “I think it was actually refreshing that even though they got married just a few months apart, they stayed true to themselves and their visions.”
That philosophy sits at the center of how our team approaches every wedding: your day should feel like you, not like a trend or a template. Whether that means a garden-inspired celebration full of movement or a formal, old world affair that lets a historic venue take center stage, the goal is the same. Design that reflects the couple in front of us.
“Our process doesn’t change depending on the client,” Kristen said. “Sometimes we have more touch points with clients who might need a bit more reassurance than others, but we don’t change how we do things. Both clients had strong visions of how their weddings would feel, and it was our job to make the vision match those feelings.”
That consistency is intentional. Whatever your aesthetic, our floristry and design process is built to listen first and translate your vision into something tangible.
Both sisters actually worked with the same pastry chef, which made for an interesting comparison.
“Their cakes were absolute works of art,” Kristen said. “However, they couldn’t have been more different. Darci’s cake featured a waterfall of flowers that cascaded off the table, making a gorgeous statement. Dede’s cake was modernly designed and featured a vignette of champagne coupes and a smaller floral arrangement, each on their own table.”
Same baker and yet two entirely different design languages. As Kristen put it, “the wedding cake was present on both days, just highlighted to match the wedding aesthetic in its own way.”

Beyond the florals and the design work, Kristen said the real highlight was the family itself.
“I love getting to spend that much time with all members of their family,” she said. “It was so fun to get to know their parents and siblings and see the way they continued to show up for each other. Their family easily became a highlight of the year for me.”
Whether your dream wedding looks more like Deidre’s modern garden romance or Darci’s timeless, old world elegance, Kristen wants couples to know one thing above all.
“It’s important to understand the range of our design team and experience, which will allow us to work with any aesthetic you can dream up,” she said. “The most valuable thing you can do when selecting a vendor for your wedding day is to find someone you trust and enjoy the planning process with.”
Whether you’re drawn to lush, garden-inspired florals or a more formal, historic elegance, our team of Columbus wedding florist’s are here to bring your specific vision to life, florals, hard goods, and every detail that rounds out the look. No two weddings we design ever look the same, and that’s exactly the point.
